There has been considerable discussion about the problems with dumping radioactive water into the ocean from the destroyed nuclear plant at Fukushima. But who knew that this has been standard practice in the US, where thousands of tons of radioactive waste from military, commercial, medical and industrial operations have been dumped into the Pacific Ocean along the Southern California coast for decades without the knowledge of, or objection from, the public.
