Radiation and Health

This section contains essays and commentaries on radiation health effects sometimes challenging the prevailing wisdom on the subject and correcting deliberate misstatements by “authorities” which lead to confusion and misunderstanding.  These topics are selected to address some of the most common misconceptions on radiation among the public.

There is abundant evidence that radiation does not affect all people equally. It is therefore deceptive to adopt a “one size fits all” stance on radioactive risk assessment. It is also clear that there are large age and gender differences in radiation effects. For a discussion of the increased susceptibility of women to radiation see for example:

One Response to Radiation and Health

  1. Radiation is more dangerous to human health than has often been accepted by the authorities whether government panels, health professionals or academic experts. While there has been great enthusiasm about a space mission to mars and even a colony, the problem is protecting the voyagers from space radiation; which at the moment makes a manned mission to mars impractical.
